Recognize That You Talk to Yourself

Whether you realize it or not, you talk to yourself, probably every day. You have an inner voice that responds to the questions you ask it each day. Pay attention when you hear yourself quietly ask “What am I going to wear today,” or “What time is it?” or “What shall I have for dinner tonight”, or any of the many questions you ask yourself daily.

Catch yourself when you ask yourself, then stop and listen for the answer. See how you answer yourself. Is it as a thought, a feeling, a taste in your mouth, a rumbling in your gut, goose bumps, or what?

Listen to how quickly the answer comes. Notice if you struggle for an answer and think about it for a while or if it comes right to you. Observe yourself in the process of listening to yourself and answering the everyday questions you ask.  Spend several days, weeks or months with this – however long it takes for you to recognize the voice that answers you when you ask everyday questions.

List some of the questions you have asked yourself.
